In our firm we do not limit our work to civil matters, and each lawyer is proactive in undertaking criminal cases. Junior lawyers handle not only the criminal cases of our firm but also undertake many other cases as part of duty counsel activities relating to bar association assignments, and as court-appointed attorneys. Our team was further strengthened in 1999 by the addition of a former Hiroshima Superintendent Public Prosecutor of the Hiroshima High Court Public Prosecutors' Office.
Both senior and junior lawyers undertake a number of criminal cases ranging from large economic criminal matters such as aggravated breach of trust, to general criminal cases, and have a fine track record including obtaining a "not-guilty" judgment in a famous aggravated breach of trust case. One of our senior partners has acted as a deputy prosecutor in a fushinpan (petition for trial in abuse of public authority) case on two occasions, and another one of our lawyers claims the distinction for two consecutive years for reporting most frequently for duty in a one-year period among duty counsel of the Osaka Bar Association.
